Are Companies willing to Reward Monetarily To Retain Talent?

The job market is extremely hard these days, but I do not feel the talent is lacking out there.  Education is changing and advancing every day, and people are chosing to become more educated and to further their education in masters programs, online degrees, off-line degrees, whatever.

People are eager for success.  They are driven toward a common goal.  To enjoy what they do, and to get PAID while doing so.  I heard someone say today ” People come to work to work.  Work isn’t always fun.  If work were fun, people would say ‘Hey honey, I am off to Fun, I will be back later on!’ That struck me hard.  I love having fun.  And I do have lots of fun when I do work most of the time.  But I am at work to make money.  To provide my basic needs and to be honest, many of my selfish egotistical needs.  But that is my choice as to what I do with the money I worked extremely hard for.  As most do, we all work hard for every penny we see in our bank accounts.

But is it enough?  Are we over-worked and under-paid?  Do you find yourself cringing when your boss says to you “Congrats for all of your hard work! Here is your bonus!” ? And to yourself you are thinking “Its almost rude the guy had the nerve to say congrats and he can keep it…the company needs it more that I do”.

How do companies expect to hire, retain, while most importantly PAY talent in the trying times? They can’t afford not to.  People of our generation are a lot like the Traditionalist of the early 20th century.  We are savvy.  We are smart.  We are business starters.  If we don’t like what we get, guess what….we can get it somewhere else.  And if we don’t like it still, then we will just do it ourselves.  We are self starters, motivated, innovative, and don’t give a sh*t what anyone thinks.  If you read blogs, or even just open up your web brower basically, someone is telling you what they think, and what they are going to do about it.  Why not?  If we are not making the money we desire, we find it.

Companies today are going to have to catch on.  If they don’t, who will be the leaders of the Fortune 500 companies?  The talent is out there.  Look at the guys creating businesses in garages like Youtube, Facebook, etc., A large corporation would have laughed in the face of those self-starters if they said,” hey, pay me 1 million or even 500K to help your company launch one of the most referenced websites on the web!” Because folks today can do it themselves and make billions with out the bullcrap.  The web is our round-table.  Its our virtual presentation of our ideas and no ONE….NO one can take it away or let us know our business casual dress is un-accepted and to remove your nose ring/cover up your trashy tattoos lol.

Get it together America.  Pay us for success.  Appreciate us.  Free us. And I promise….. we will float those dollars back into the US Economy and screw a wasted stimulus package for our BullSh*t Secular-Progressive/Socialist government.
